The idea for this card is that the gangster’s moll or girlfriend has betrayed the gangster and he has found out. To create this card I started by stamping a collage of newspapers on white cardstock. Next I applied 3 different rub-ons (the cityscape, the gangster silhouette, and the lounge sign) that I created using Grafix Rub-Onz Transfer film. Click here to see the tutorial on making your own rub-ons. By using a series of rub-ons you can see through the gangster to the cityscape and then through the cityscape to the newspapers.
Next, I added the car and the woman. For the final touches I added her ring and earrings using Stickles and the swirl of smoke coming out of the gangster’s machine gun which is a commercially produced rub-on.
I love the card, really great!

Very cool! I love the whole design of the piece. Thanks for the tips on rubons, I have yet to try them.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, awesome Laura! I love how this turned out. You have really captured the feel of the speak-easy, Al Capone, Elliot Ness era! Really wonderful!
