Welcome

Welcome! Artfully Musing is a blog dedicated to sharing art and the techniques and products used. I'll be showcasing collage, altered and mixed media art as well as miniature. I hope you'll check back often and are inspired. Thanks for visiting! Laura

NOTICE: AlphaStamps has moved to a new website. Unfortunately, I was not aware the product links in my blog posts would not forward to the products on the new website. This has affected both the links in the posts and my Collage Sheet & Digital Image Set Catalogs. I ask for your patience while I work to fix the links. I’ll be fixing the newest posts first working back in time. Lastly, I’ll fix the catalogs. In the meantime, if you encounter broken links and need to finding something you can either use the name of the product to search the new AlphaStamps.net site or you can email me using the “Email Me” button at the top of the left column of the blog and I will do what I can to help. Altered Book Cover – Dollhouse Door - Dollhouse Supplies

For those who enjoy altering books here is an idea for the cover.  In the book below I used a dollhouse door.  First I painted and distress the door.  Next I cut a hole in the cover and a hole in several pages of the book (the depth of the door insert).  Then I glued all of the cut pages together and glued the cover to the pages.  Finally I Insert the door in the hole and glue it in place.

I use all kinds of dollhouse architectural and hardware items in my collage pieces.  They usually come unfinished so you can alter them anyway you like.  Some craft stores carry dollhouse supplies and there are several online suppliers.  I’ve also purchased items on eBay.

I want one! I love dollhouse/miniatures, especially the architectural elements like windows and doors! I've been wanting to use a door for ages, just hasn't reached the top of the list yet! This is marvelous! BeBe

Hi Laura,
I love looking at how you've used your door!
I've been collecting the little windows and am planning on using them in a project soon.

Great idea Laura, makes for a fabulous book cover. I picked up a few resin ones but a bit to heavy for a book. I'll have to keep my eyes open for wood ones.
