ANTIQUE SHOP STRUCTURE & DECORATIVE ITEMS - VIDEO TUTORIAL - NEW IMAGE SETS

This post is the 3rd and final in a series covering the construction of an antique shop, the outdoor lighting, and the remaining decor and antiques. The inspiration for the Antique Shop came from the Octagon Room box (pictured below), which I have been itching to use.

I wanted a shabby-looking façade and interior, and the Summertime in Blue papers were a perfect fit.

This project also allowed me to use the 5x4 window frame box, which is designed to accommodate lighting, and for this project, I used fairy lights in combination with the coach lights on each side of the door to create a lovely night scene.

Inside, along with all of the other décor and vintage items I covered in the previous two posts, are antique paintings from my new collage sheet, wall clocks, and shelves with cute things such as a vase, dishes, and a tea set.

In addition to the new Miniature Antique Painting collage sheet, I've created three new Mini Picture Frame collage Sheets.

I added beams to the structure, which allowed me to hang chandeliers and act as a ledge for more antiques.

I decided the shop definitely needed a roof. You'll find a template, roof tiles, and capstones free for download further down at the post, and of course, I'll cover its construction in the video tutorial. The ceiling inside the roof is covered with more of the Summertime in Blue papers.

For the walls inside the shop, I use a combination of the Summertime in Blue papers and a plastering technique (which I cover in the tutorial). The plaster technique is a great way to hide the wiring for the lights outside the shop. The batteries and switches are hidden within the sideboard, which is open in the back.

Below you will find a video tutorial, information on the new collage sheets, a detailed supply list, and then a link to a master supply list of all of the products from AlphaStamps for this project. I've also included a free downloadable roof template, collage sheets with the roof tiles and cap shingles, a template for the front door trim and panels, and the shop sign.

MINIATURE FURNITURE FOR ANTIQUE SHOP - VIDEO TUTORIAL - NEW COLLAGE SHEETS

This is the second in a series of three posts focused on building an antique shop.  This second post focuses on the shop's furnishings and the decor displayed on and in the furniture.

Making the furniture was made easier by using unfinished furniture & die-cut chipboard kits, which I used to make a bookcase, desk, sideboard, Victorian table, and more.

Each piece of furniture is loaded with all kinds of vintage bits and bobs, too many to mention.

I can't say enough about the Kraft-Tex paper.  It has more of a fabric feel (you can sew it) than paper, and it is perfect for a faux leather look.  I demonstrate additional techniques in the video to make it look even more realistic.

One of the cutest items is the desktop bookstand pictured below which is made from a kit and has an AlphaStamps collage sheet with various decorative designs from which to choose.

Below you will find a video tutorial, information on the new collage sheets, a detailed supply list, and then a link to a master supply list of all of the products from AlphaStamps for this project.

I've also included a downloadable template and instructions to make the column I used to display the David bust.

MINIATURE LIGHTING - VIDEO TUTORIAL

I'm in the process of building an antique shop that, among other things, features lighting.  Along with the lighting for the shop, I've included some lights from older projects.  I thought it might be helpful to focus on just the lighting in the first video tutorial.  Over the next few weeks, I'll be covering other aspects of the antique shop.

The way I approach designing the lights is to break down the shapes that make up a light and then figure out what I can use that is that shape which leads me to some unusual materials.  For example, I needed something that looked like a domed glass shade; how about a couple of plastic bowls flipped over and glued together, or a bird bath becomes a lamp base.

I used die-cut paper and chipboard to make some projects easier; others were more elaborate and constructed from various materials.  A few of the items I used are from my stash, but most are being carried by AlphaStamps

Below you will find a video tutorial, pictures of each light with a detailed supply list, and then a link to a master supply list of all of the products AlphaStamps is carrying to make these lights.
