12 Days of Christmas Matchbox Ornaments - New Collage Sheet - Video Tutorial (also covering Advent Calendar Matchbox Ornaments)

The last project I posted covered making Advent Calendar Ornaments from matchboxes.  If making 25 ornaments is more than you have time for, might be interested in making a 12 Days of Christmas set.  And to go along with this post is a video tutorial to walk you through all the steps.
Just as with the Advent Calendar Ornaments, I’m using the same matchbox kit.
These also have ribbons as hangers and a number charm and tassel for a pull.

For this project, I have created a new Mini 12 Days of Christmas collage sheet whose images are sized for this project or any other small art project.  To purchase the sheet below, click on the image.

VIDEO TUTORIAL

The video tutorial covers making the 12 Days ornaments as well as the 25 Advent Calendar ornaments I covered in the previous post.

Christmas Project - Matchbox Advent Calendar Ornaments - 12 Days of Christmas Ornaments - Video Tutorial

Tis the season for Christmas projects and I have a few seasonal projects coming your way.  The first is two sets if matchbox ornaments one using the theme of 12 Days of Christmas (with a new collage sheet) and the other a 25 Ornament set functioning as an Advent Calendar.   I can imagine how fun it would be for kids to scan the tree each day looking for the day’s ornament, opening the box to reveal a small gift or treat.
There is nothing complicated about this project which is made up of cutting and gluing, a good project to work on at night while watching TV.  The matchboxes (made from a simple pre-scored kit) I used are larger than the ones you find in the store which means you can insert larger items.
In the VIDEO TUTORIAL further down in the post I'll walk you through how I assembled these ornaments.

Treasure Chest Gift Box with Jewelry & Matchbox Mermaid Clock

Good things come in small packages, and this one is no exception.  If you are looking for a special way to present a small gift, how about making a gift box from a mini kraft treasure chest.
My version of a gift box is mermaid themed and contains an ocean-themed necklace and bracelet.
Below you can see the undecorated chest that would work for whatever theme you have.
I started by painting the chest using teal acrylic paint, then rubbed the raised areas with Inca Gold Gilders Paste.  The straps are Dresden borders.  To add more interest to the straps, I added bronze buckle connectors.  The closure is fancy mini latch set.
On the sides, I attached small swivel drawer handles.

At the top is a paper compass star which you will find below.  Feel free to download and use it in your art.
Attached to the top is a brass mermaid rubbed with Patina Gilders Paste.

The necklace sports a couple of starfish and brass shells.  The larger starfish comes in a patina color.  To coordinate the other starfish and shells, I rubbed them with Patina Gilders Paste which gave me a perfect color match.

To achieve a matching color on the rosary chains, I used Clover Alcohol Ink.  To dye the beads, make a bath of the Alcohol Ink and Blending Solution; you just need enough to cover the beads.  Drop the beads in the bath and leave them for about 5 minutes.  Carefully remove the beads from the bath, making sure you don’t touch the beads (I used tweezers and grabbed the chain part).  Hang the beads to dry (about 30 minutes).  The nice thing about Alcohol Ink is that if the bead is transparent, it will still be transparent after you apply the ink.  With this technique, your beads can be matched to the color of your jewelry or art piece.
The simple bracelet below sports antique pewter starfish and antique silver seahorse charms.

MATCHBOX NAUTICAL CLOCK
Below are two samples using the Matchbox Nautical collage sheet.
MATCHBOX NAUTICAL CLOCK COLLAGE SHEET
The sheet is designed to fit the narrow matchboxes carried by Alpha Stamps.  On the sheet, you’ll find 3 water papers that wrap perfectly around the matchbox as well as water paper pieces for each end.  To decorate the box or build your matchbox clock, I’ve included lots of shells, fish, clocks, and a frame sized to fit the box.

BOUTIQUE EXQUISITE with VIDEO TUTORIAL and NEW COLLAGE SHEETS and DIGITAL IMAGE SET

Have you ever wanted to own a sweet little shabby chic boutique filled will lovely goodies?  Now you can!  In my boutique, I’ve created all kinds of furniture, from a chipboard kit, matchboxes, a plant stand, glass & paper, hat boxes, dollhouse furniture, and a folding screen.  I’ve filled the pieces with hats made from bottle caps, perfume bottles, purses, jewelry, and other bits and bobs.
I’ve also created a simple structure using a few pieces of foam core board and two pieces of basal wood to showcase the boutique.  Paper images and beautiful lace add architecture to the shop.
What’s more, I have made a video tutorial showing you how to create all of the pieces and the shop structure.  With a project like this, it is easy to pick and choose what you want to tackle.  You could just make a piece or two or create your own shop.
I think my favorite piece is the glass cabinet.  It's made using an image from the Boutique Exquisite collage sheet, a piece of chipboard in the back, glass slides, and box feet that serve as brackets.  You won’t believe how simple it is to make and what a wow factor it gives your shop.  I put many of the prettiest things on the glass shelves; the mantle clock, jardinière, and the mask.
By using a box top, fabric and box feet you can construct an ottoman.  A chipboard tray filled with goodies and a bottle cap hat completes the piece.
By using laser-cut tags, some chipboard, and hinges, you can create a beautiful folding screen.
I can never get enough of matchbox chests.  I used two different-sized mini matchboxes to make the two chests below.
The paper mache round boxes, coupled with candlestick holders, make great tables.
The cabinet below is made from a chipboard kit, making it easy to assemble and fun to decorate.
The piece below is an unfinished dollhouse counter which I stained with Distress Stain.  And check out the cute little cash register!  The mirror stand is made from a hand mirror and a piece of filigree.
This lovely plant stand makes a perfect place to display hats, purses, and perfume.
All the 3D hats in the boutique are from bottle caps.

NEW COLLAGE SHEETS
To go along with the project, I have six new collage sheets and 1 new digital image set.
This sheet contains elegant furniture and architecture to adorn your boutique or shop of any theme.
This sheet is loaded will all sorts of beautiful hats, gloves and purses.

This sheet includes 29 pairs of vintage shoes.
